Our New Walking Boots

Christmas and Birthday Gifts to each other.

Our main New Year Resolution is to get out and about more when we’re not photographing weddings and portraits to do a bit more walking. So in true Watson style, we ended up getting each other identical walking boots (great minds think alike!) and wonderful they are too. Although mine were a birthday present as I was celebrating another milestone on the 25th December!

So yesterday we decided to give them a try on a short walk through Sykes Wood in Pudsey to break them in and to walk off a bit of the excess of Christmas – unlikely considering the amount of chocolate that we’ve eaten over the festive period:)

Obviously we always take the cameras to see if anything inspires us whilst we’re out and about.

The light was fantastic, a bit grey and moody which we feel gives the images a rather lovely look to them. Have a look and see what you think, it doesn’t suit everyone but for us they look great. Fingers crossed for more wet and dull days throughout January so we can test the boots fully and get some more photography done before the wedding season kicks in.

We also tried out a new technique (for us) originally thought up by a guy called Ryan Brenizer named the “Brenizer Method“. It gives really beautiful out of focus areas within the shot with the focus point (Mary in this image) pin sharp, although we think we need a bit more practice with it. Anyone got any thoughts on it?

Oh and how did the boots do? Fabulous! Our feet were toasty and dry even considering the clinging mud and hiking through a few streams! Well done Messer’s SCARPA!

xx

If you love our images please do share them, after all thats what photographs are for :)
